Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this I was a computer programmer for years and had to print everything. Now in my 70's I had forgot how to write cursive and It has taken me months to learn all over. I'm still working on it.

At 12 years old, my mom bought me a calligraphy kit soon after my dad died. That summer I filled several books. I found it so soothing as I focused on the feel of the ink gliding along the page. 46 years later, hand lettering, printing and calligraphy brings me peace like nothing else.

what a wonderful and relaxing video!! i especially loved the bit you mentioned about not obsessing over handwriting being perfect and font-like, and how our differences give our script personality. i often find myself worrying so much about keeping my handwriting neat that i end up losing out on the joy of writing to begin with.

I did like the more casual feel. And then I went and wrote a letter. Inspired! :-)

Absolutely LOVED this video. Calm, inspiring, encouraging. I can't wait to carve out a time to watch again with my boys who are trying to improve their handwriting. I would love to see more of this! Thank you for making it!

I enjoyed the relaxed, calming style of this video. Plus, it’s always fun to look closely at someone else’s handwriting.

Thanks HJ, sometimes we forget the importance of handwriting, as a bit of an amateur artist I love the extra flourish you get when using a FP. I find pen practice both relaxing and cathartic. Also a big happy international fountain day to all FP Nerds, get out your grails and enjoy!

The difference between by dad's and my cursive is night and day. My dad was taught penmanship and I wasn't 😢

Wonderful video! Very relaxing and fun to listen to. Like a low-stakes lecture with one of my old history or philosophy professors. I put it on while I was doing some reflections on book passages and it was a relaxing experience. Do more like this!

I've been practicing the Palmer method of cursive handwriting, which is a simplified Spencerian. Look for the Palmer method guide sheet if you want something to reference while you practice. Thanks for the fun HJ!

A lovely video, thank you! You encouraged me to spend a little time writing more carefully, along with you. And I tried a few new things, too!

I smiled at your comment about not wanting sad d’s. I had a parishioner in my congregation who has been gone for quite a few years. Her penmanship was as beautiful and graceful as her spirit. I try to emulate her capital D as much as I try to emulate her character. On my best days my Ds and character come close, on other days… well there’s droopiness! It’s not about perfection. It’s about grace and gracefulness! Great ideas in this video. Thank you!

So fun!! It made me pick up my Pilot Custom 912 with a custom ebonite feed and FA nib. Flourishes are fun and mistakes sometimes lead to a flash of creativity. Thanks

This was great! I love the way you linked words with the cross stroke of the t and other techniques. I'm going to try that myself in a letter to a new pen pal who lives in Wales – I think she's enjoy those little touches. Take care!
