This visit, the first by a U.S. aircraft carrier to Norway in over six decades, is aimed at strengthening the U.S.-Norway partnership. Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, during his tour of the ship, emphasized the importance of the visit as a demonstration of the security guarantees through NATO, particularly Norway's close ties with the United States.

Restrictions while the vessel was in Oslo
"Inner Oslofjord is now a restricted zone. Operation of aircraft – including drones – within 0.5 nautical miles (926 meters) of military vessels is forbidden without prior permission. The restricted area also applies at an altitude of up to 3,000 feet (914.4 meters).
Aircraft can operate normally outside the restricted area of 0.5 nautical miles and an altitude of 3,000 feet.
First global assignment
The USS Gerald R. Ford is on its first global mission. The ship accommodates a crew of 4,500 and 90 aircraft and helicopters. The ship sailed from Norfolk in the USA on 2 May. It passed through the English Channel and on into the North Sea. USS Gerald R. Ford is named after the 38th President of the United States. It is the first aircraft carrier of a total of ten in the Gerald R. Ford class. The Gerald R. Ford class will take over from the Nimitz class and is the first new class in the US Navy in more than 40 years"

On Friday morning His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon boarded the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford,

I’m an American who lives in Norway. Got a bit emotional seeing this. Really happy to see Oslo welcome 4, 5 acres of floating US tarmac into the fjord for a visit 😊

Thanks from Norway. We are lucky to have such a strong ally. Someone to protect our democracy and freedom. Hope we can give back and defend you as well (hope this day won't come in a very long time) should it be necessary. Thanks for protecting democracy, we all need to stick together and prevent the world to go in to darkness. Im happy today there is so many free countries. I don't take it for granted. Thanks 🙏🙌

Vikings would been proud to see a vessel nearly as powerful as theirs sailing in their waters

Worked with the Norwegian military as a US contractor. Very professional demeanor and top tier technically. Traditional reindeer and Akvavit (aquavit) for our holiday party. Wonderful allies and bad hangover.

I just happened to be in Oslo for the past few days and the ship is the "talk of the town." I saw some of our other battle cruisers also in port. Very awesome!!

Such a massive vessel and it leaves less wake in the water than some of the small boats next to it. True marvel of engineering, and as stealthy as 4.5 acres of floating land can be.

Reminds me of the opening scene of Star Wars where a star destroyer that is chasing the princess takes forever to go past the screen.

I visited Norway in 2005 and am happy as an American that our Beautiful and mighty Super Carrier has arrived to tell Putin Norway 🇳🇴 is a brother nation of ours and we protect our own!!! I feel SO proud seeing her sailing in with 77 fighter jets aboard! May she bring some peace of mind to our friends in Norway and the entire region!

I think there's nothing more quintessentially American than a massive supercarrier. Love it.
Eighty three years ago the Nazis tried to sail their newest cruiser up the fjord, and the Norwegians sank it. Go Norway!
