Fifty million Americans call themselves caregivers- parents caring for children, children caring for aging parents, spouses caring for one another and other volunteers. All have something in common, including endless hours of thankless tasks with little or no personal time or recognition. Each week newspapers list many people who have passed on from a disease or illness. Each person listed likely had a caregiver of some sort to care for them during their process of transition. Caregivers assume the responsibility of a loved one. Far too often these non-professional caregivers are not trained and often feel isolated from others and feel very lonely. High indexes of disease and long term disabilities indicate that there are many unnoticed caregivers who are extending themselves to care for others. President Bush proclaimed November Caregiver Awareness Month. The Caring for the Caregiver Symposium, featured a nationally known key-note speaker, Sandi Kimmel; workshops, demonstrations, round-table discussions , information tables, special recognitions and more. This DVD provides with a sample of the beautiful ambience and great information shared on this day.
