Its a galvanic cell basically where the iron of the nail and copper from the penny is acting as the electrodes where the potato itself is the electrolyte. the difference in reactivity of the two metal electrodes cause a spontaneous reaction to occur and generates a current where the iron nail oxideses and the penny reduces.

Great vid! Another trick is to use horse or deer manure, (or dung of any kind, needs to be damp, not dried out), pack in a box and use penny's and nails. Better to use sheets of steel/copper for more current. Same wiring, +-, +- etc. I've seen .1 amp from only sheets.

Copper and zinc metals are able to generate opposite polarity when in a closed circuit in potato, coin is copper and galvanized nail has zinc coating.

Probably copper, and the nails could be iron with a galvanized zinc layer which helps in the electrolysis. If someone has some zinc metal pieces, one could try to make a pile of potato slices, coins and zinc metal to produce a relativly high voltage.

Same as apples. The energy do not come from the potato itself but from the two kind of metal you are wiring. Try the same experiment with jelly, it should work.

The juice in the potato reacts with the metal and causes the electrons to travel through the juice from one piece of metal to the other. When it's all connected, it creates a current.

the potato has a light end disvison (LED) that's so tiny, you can't see it. it has a crazy amount of power in that tiny thing. the more engrey from stuff you put in, the more power the potato will have, then you can power it into a potato

Well its really easy when the farmer uses fertiliser which is acidic it goes into the potatoes and after learning it in chemistry the copper coins and mild steel nails react with the acid which creates electricity

simply put, it is similar to the first battery, the voltaic pile made by Volta(V, VOLTage). There are electrodes put inte the potato which acts like electrolyte. The chemical reaction here is called electrolysis, H2O in potato is split into hydrogen and oxygen and the electrons starts flowing...
