If I remember correctly, it was at least largely speculated that Audeze discontinued them after people started buying them to use with the Monoprice M1060 instead of their own headphones.

Honestly the micro suede material is super comfy, so much so that I have shoved them on to my TH900. They are like 10mm bigger than a TH900, but they still work.

This is awesome news. I'll buy a set when they become available in Australia. Given the FR change I suspect it'd also work well with fazored audezes as those also have some upper treble to tame.

Just today, I finally pulled the trigger to buy the Audeze LCD-2 Classic 2021 with the case. And several months ago, I had purchased the Audeze pads. They arrive next week. I also have some Hart audio cables for the Audeze. I can't wait to plug them in to replace my HD6XX (which is still pretty great) !

With the vegan pads, the headphones sound lighter, more more light-footed and the soundstage even sounds a bit wider. Thank you for that.

One of the reasons I went for the LCD-2C is the strong sub-base. For me, that is the magic of that headphone. While I would welcome a smoother treble, the change in the base might bother me. With less sub-base and more upper base, it looks much more like a "normal" dynamic.

Can you give any subjective feedback on the sound of the base? You are talking a lot about the improvements in the treble. But what kind of changes would we need to expect in the base?

Just received a set of these I'm already returning them. Currently I'm using the LCD-2 classics with Dekoni elite sheepskin pads (non fenestrated) + equalizer APO and oratory1990's settings. Sound quality with the sheepskin pads is amazing, not a fan of the Audeze house sound. But after wearing them for a bit they get warm from the memory foam and create pressure points. While the foam in the new Dekoni vegan pads would probably alleviate this, I just could not get past the micro suede texture. I don't know how similar it is to the original vegan pads as I never experienced them or if they break in, but the texture of these new vegan pads feels almost identical to 3, 000 grit sandpaper. It looks soft but definitely doesn't feel it. I honestly miss the original pleather pads that came with the LCD-2 Classic, they didn't get as warm as the sheepskin ones, and used a more open cell memory foam, but unfortunately Audeze no longer makes them and the replacement pads they now offer are also a no go. I understand the pursuit of sound quality but with heavier headphones I'll sacrifice a bit of sound quality for better comfort as sound quality doesn't matter if you're uncomfortable while using them.

Looks like it really hurts the low end bass and sub bass though and that's already a weakness on the LCD2 classic. Maybe worthwhile for comfort but at best it's a compromise.

This weekend I am going to put my vegan pads back onto my LCD2.2 and order some of these dekoni pads. This is exciting. My vegan pads are fairly average condition and make a crinkly noise when I move them on my head, the foam isnt too bad though.

I do genuinely enjoy my Dekoni Hybrid elite pads, I would say they sound pretty much as good as the vegan pads just in a slightly different way, but I have 2x LCD2.2s to play :p

Anything is better than the modern OEM LCD2 pads.
