Hello everybody I'm Nick and in this video I am going to talk about the UK Talent report that came out form a medium sized recruitment consultancy and see what the .NET careers landscape looks like in 2021 for the UK. This might not directly apply to you but I think it is a very interesting topic.

That seems accurate for the US as well (after converting to USD). I started at under $50, 000 (from everyone I've talked to, this is about average in larger cities at the moment). 2.5 years later, I'm at a little under $80, 000 (this might be slightly on the higher end, but I'd still say about average). I have friends with around 7 years of experience at around the $115, 000 - $120, 000 mark. Don't know if that helps anyone in the US watching this. Great video, as always!

Another great video but the saleries are well inflated, and are based on london. If like me live and work outside london in midlands salaries for senior devs are 45 to 65k and will depend on company. Anyway catching up on other vids you done recently

I think, .Net is the way i want to go, learning C# for 2+ years and making a Retrain(Umschulung) as Software Developer in Germany.
I Saw your Roadmap and it looks interessting, i hope i will learn much new in my Internship that will be 6 months be long.
Learned coding a little to late, with ca 35, because of stupid fear, but with Udemy, it was not so hard, here and there a hurdle, but the feeling after that was great, so much joy.

I think these salaries apply only to big, rich companies. I've never got anywhere near £65k for being a "senior developer". Sadly.

I'm at 140K+ in the US (TX) as a .net coder. My first job as a dev was 60K in 2007.

Great video as always. Do you plan on making a video about your environment setup or a more in-depth video showing Rider/Visual Studio differences?

Went in on 2800 euro in Sweden as .NET dev. Got raise after some heavy debate to 3200. Changed job after almost 3 years and making 4500 euro now.

Junior pays are very low to start with

Thanks for this info, Nick! There's some way to apply to a remote work for UK?

This is my PERSONAL experience as an American, working in the .net landscape:

Organizations tend to (not always) pay you based on your previous organization. So whatever you make, they will start offers at +10k or something more.

I started as a Controls Engineer (think a cross between mechanical and electrical engineer). We wanted to try something newer for the industry so I purchased a book and learned C#.

Did that for a year, then left that organization, and was able to clear 100k (I'm not in any big tech state either) within 1.5 years of writing my first line of code.

I won't bore you with the details unless someone really wants to know more, but that "exceeds xxxx amount of money" is surely possible.

It is important though, that once you get in there, you HAVE to prove your worth. But really, every initial offer in pay I have ever received, was 100% based on the organization trying to pay JUST a bit more than my last job.

My main focus is .NET as it is the platform I enjoy most and believe in its growth long term. However, I am also slightly concerned about being a 1 trick pony. Do you reckon putting most of your eggs in the .NET basket is dangerous in terms of career prospects?

How much taxes you have to pay in UK? For example 100k £ salary. How much from it stays in your pocket? In Poland it depends how much you earns but in general around 20-30% are taxes.

These seem VERY high to me, possibly because they are London-centric and probably contract-based. I'm a Senior Software Engineer with 25 years experience working in a wide variety of languages (including C/C++/C#), typically on safety-critical and embedded real-time systems. I work a four day week (36 hours) and my pre-tax salary is £40k pa. 😢

Hi @Nick Chapsas,
Are available jobs with visa sponsorship or paid relocation in the UK for foreign .net developers or not?

Do you have a discord server by any chance?

Yeah. That level of salary are crazy compared to Russia standarts. As a senior i barely get about a 30k$/year. I guess it's time to think about moving...
P.S. 5 years of .net and 3 years of testing.
