Super! Saved me my X96 mini.(16/2GB)
now it is working faster than it ever did. (Didn't install many things yet) THANKS. it works.

steps:
download installer and IMG file from link (there are two files, I used one that has (2) in the name)
install the USB burning tool in your PC or laptop. (windows)
open it
import IMG file
once done importing press START button
Grab a USB cable and DON'T plug in the x96 mini device.
plug in USB cable in your PC (laptop)
get a toothpick and insert the thicker end inside the AV connector hole and you will find RESET button clicking.
PRESS that RESET button and hold it PRESSED! (Not just once)
now PLUG in that other end of the USB cable in the WHITE usb slot.
(White USB is the power input USB, it is used for DATA and it POWERS the device )
because you have already PRESSED the START button on your PC, plugging in the device causes the USB burning tool to start UPDATING your device with the NEW system IMG you have selected.
you can let go of the tooth pick on the RESET button when the process starts.
let it go till 100%
once done and all.
unplug the USB from the x96Mini.
press the STOP button if you want.
take the x96mini to TV.
plug-in the HDMI
LAN (Ethernet)
(TV on and switched to HDMI source)
power cable in the x96mini
(Loading Screen)
wait for it.
...

nothing?
...

Boom! Start screen with all the icons and apps!
faster than ever! zip zip zip
Fix date and all.
add google accounts
Enjoy.

(Wifi router was not connecting initially, so i used LAN. but I tried again few minutes later and it worked OK.
so nothing BUGGY yet.
it has been 4 hours using the device.
will update it something came up.
otherwise, assume that it just works.

Hey, i have the same, pratically, except it´s Mibox 96x II mini, and has no AV port, and every time I look it up everyone has the same different one, and I google mine and this one shows up which doesn´t apply so I can´t do the same as you, nor can I access or know how to access the safe mode firmware list when starting the box. I have tried through a USB flash drive but when I insert it on the box it asks me to format it which erases the firmware update files which doesnt make any sense instead of reading and using them. I also tried connecting it via uSB and mini USB to my android smartphone but no use... help please.

I HAVE X96 2G 16 VERSION AND I CAN'T UPDATE ANY OF THE METHODS. IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MINI AND NORMAL VERSION?

You upload two files (aml_upgrade_package.img, aml_upgrade_package(2).img).
My X96 mini freeze after IPTV run 30mins.
Can you suggest i upgrade which .img? Thanks.

Any way to get a 64bit firmware to work on this? I mean since its an 64bit cpu, a 64bit android would be great. Specialy now when google wil be demanding 64bit on playstore.

You wrote "firmware support RAM 1GB/2GB ROM 8GB/16GB", but your Google Drive folder is called x96 mini 2+16. Please, can you confirm that the two .img files will work with both devices?
