Former governor Tim Pawlenty wishes he had accomplished as much as Tim Walz during his two terms. Pawlenty crowned himself the education governor while school districts across Minnesota had to slash budgets and cut programs and teachers. Pawlenty's primary aspiration as governor was to gain Republican approval so he could run for president one day. Ironically, Walz is now the Democratic selection for Vice President. Wonder if that stings a bit, Tim.

I really appreciate the class act Tim Palenty has shown himself to be in this interview. I remember when the government shut down because of the budget impasse. I backed Tim Palenty saying this wasn't his fault. The house and senate were at an impasse and had to work till the very last minute to balance the budget. I remember that because I work for the state and was affected.

Pawlenty failed to fund the very basic needs of the state and property taxes increased immensely. Walz is for the people.

In 2004, Tim Walz organized a protest outside a rally for President George W. Bush where he held up a sign that read “Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran 4 Kerry” — referencing the US fight against terrorists in Afghanistan.

The trouble is, in his 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, Walz never deployed to combat zones in Afghanistan or Iraq. The closest he got was thousands of miles away in Italy. But it’s a label he used again and again — including in his official biography when he ran for Congress two years later in 2006.
