Pretty simple PS Vita let's you play your PS3/PS4 games on it yea? That's what the PSP was supposed to be a play station portable. It let's you play those games.

The 3DS is a pure handheld and has it's own handheld games that hold up on their own. Combined with the Wii U games being ported to the 3DS it has a huge lineup if you count DS/3DS/Wii U ported games.

What do you want? A play station portable or a Nintendo hand held with all the old Pokemon/Mario/Zelda games you grew up with?

I have both, and I would go with the vita. I really don't see how anyone can say the 3DS is better than the vita.

You have games like, KZ: mercenary, soul sacrifice, and uncharted, THESE ARE CONSOLE QUALITY GAMES !

3DS is something you give a child to keep him quiet for a few hours. I'm so happy with my vita, I plan on selling my 3ds.

Tbh it just depends on the kind of Games you like, but imo the 3ds has better variety. Also in terms of the general market:
Pokemon AND SSB4 = one dead vita

I agree because the ratings of buys during the holidays for the PS Vita is nothing compared to the 3ds..

I agree he should get a 3DS XL (I own one) based on the 3DS games he wanted but Greg could have at least mentioned the Vita games he was interested in. I'm betting one of them was Hotline Miami which plays great, Thomas Was Alone is really underrated as well. Muramasa Rebirth is really well done and Dragon's Crown will be out in a week. Vita is also getting Rayman Legends on September 3rd (3DS might also but I'm sure like Origins it won't be any good) and Killzone: Mercenary on September 17th.

Curtis, The Vita with PS+ is the best choice you could make. Even if it is only the 3 month subscription for $17. You get Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush and other great games straight away. Not to mention the freebies available on the PS Store like Jetpack Joyride and Ecolibrium.

I own both. Vita has Gravity Rush, Sly Cooper 4, Mortal Kombat, and Assassins Creed. 3DS has Resident Evil Revelations and the Mercenaries 3D, Luigis Mansion 2, Dead or Alive Dimensions, and Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D.
The Vita doesn't have much, but when it actually does get a good game, its amazingly good. The 3DS seems to have a constant stream of good to great games, though very few are "amazing".

Honestly, I play both of them equally, but I like the fact that the 3ds has a larger game library. Plus a few new big title releases are coming out soon, such as a new LoZ, SMT 4, and Project X Zone. PS vita has games coming out such as God Eater 2 I presume? Also games like Killzone which looks fantastic, FF X HD, and Dragon's Crown. Now both systems have their potential, and I honestly don't see the point in comments like "Oh this is for kids, " or "PS Vita is lame."

Yep, as time goes by the Vita library is getting better. Look at what has just come out in the past few weeks and what is coming before Dec. Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter Trilogy, Kill Zone, Muramsma Rebirth, Toukiden, Walking Dead 400 Days, KillZone, Tearaway, Rayman Legends and also more great indies Retro Renegade, Hotline Miami

In terms of making money and having the best game, the 3DS is better. Glad I didn't buy that vita shit like my friend.

Calling the 3DS childish is in no way a valid point to make a decision. The 3DS has a wonderful array of software right at purchase. Hope this helps anyone...

ps vita not even have 5 good games while 3ds have dozens of them lol there is no need to even compare them 3ds is million times better because it has actualy games unlike psvita. nobody wants to make a game for vita because its a fail console

Well it is true you do need great games. So far Muramsa, Jak and Daxter Trilogy, Tokyo Jungle, Toukiden, Dragon Ball Z, Y's Memories of Celceta, Epic Mickey, Dragons Crown, Batman, Tearaway, Killzone, Counter Spy, Rayman Legends, Warriors Orochi, Walking Dead are all announced and I think are supposed to be launched before the end of this year. I hope you can find something to play if you get a Vita.
