The United States Postal Service has been around for more than 200 years and is actually older than the United States. However, the organization that always makes it through rain, sleet, and hail may not make it through 2020. A law passed at the end of 2006, combined with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, has led to most of the post office's current woes. Here's why the post office is $160 billion in debt.

As a mailman I take pride in my work. We work hard and deliver thousands of pieces a day, in any condition. We have aging trucks, equipment, etc. The people are what make this job great! We just need a little help, the post office never lost money, we only made it by having efficient and affordable SERVICE. That’s what I hope people know is that, while you May get a package or mail piece incorrectly, but it’s only .01% of our daily deliveries for the day. Thank you to those who still support us to this day!

We need to decide if the USPS is a business or a government public service, it's trying to be both. If it's a business then let it set the rates it needs to function. If a gov. service then pay the freight to keep it running.

So they have to have a retirement and pension fund for workers who haven't even been born??? No wonder they're in debt!

If Airline Companies, Chrysler, and General Motors back in 2008 got bailout money. There is no excuse to ignore something we have depended on longer before any other forms of transportation listed to give us mail. They're heroes and go through so much everyday. I salute you guys and thank you for your continued efforts.

If the USPS ceases operation a TON of businesses will fold and many more millions of people will suddenly be out of work--many many more than just the 600, 000 current postal employees. It would be absolute INSANITY to allow the postal service to go out of business.Anyone who thinks that the USPS can just fold and everything will be ok AIN'T THINKING.

The post office is the most affordable for mailing and package shipping. We should not politicize USPS during elections, and It hurts them. I want USPS to be saved.

The republicans literally made that law SPECIFICALLY to kill the postal service, no other company needs to fund their retirement 75 years in advanced 😡

I'm a proud postal worker. I'm a clerk.

The amazing thing about the USPS (United States Postal Service) is the organization was never designed to operate at a profit. The organization exists to deliver America's mail in all 50 states, military institutions, and U.S territories. If the organization is removed buying products online and shipping costs will increase decreasing discretionary income of U.S citizens which will be detrimental to the economy.

We are the connective tissue of the nation ensuring all Americans can reach one another by by post.

No mention of the USPS Fairness Act that the House passed in February? This bill eliminates the ridiculous requirement of pre-funding their retirement pension fund. Somebody tell Mitch McConnell to bring the bill to the Senate floor.

Postal workers are working unbelievably hard during this pandemic risking the lives of themselves and their families so people can get their stimulus checks, medications and other essential items. They deserve some appreciation for all they do instead of idiots always saying “ I pay taxes and that’s where your paycheck comes from” NEWS FLASH idiots the postal service is a self funded federal agency.
Thank you to all of the hard working postal workers across America

The problem is people keep wanting to treat USPS as a buisness when its really a public service

My favorite person in town is my mail carrier, especially when I'm expecting a package. Very appreciative of the USPS.
