what about linux maybe you can get better performance with thier opensource drivers. it's worth a try.
the r5 340x is also 30$ on aliexpress what about it being your new aquisition

The newest game in this list is AC Odyssey from 2018.
So, the title is wrong - Radeon HD 7870 in 2022
You should play the latest relevant games for that.
Otherwise you can play GTA V in 2030 with HD 7870 no problem.
