The work will always be there. It’s an especially bad deal for salaried employees that don’t get paid out overtime for working over 40 hrs. Don’t voluntarily give yourself a pay cut by working over 40 hrs unless it’s clear that doing so will lead to a better opportunity/promotion.

There is no need for over time after a certain amount of time if the base Working hour is 55h/week.

If I didn't work the overtime I did, I'd be living paycheck to paycheck in very poor conditions. Because I work OT, I bought a studio condo to live in with the most affordable monthly expenses I could possibly get and a brand-new reliable car that will last many years to come. OT got me out of forever financially struggling and in a position to flourish further.

It's different when it's something you are building, rather than building something for someone else.
I like to work on software after hours if it's engaging work towards a goal that's increasing my income over time.

Sorry Ken but I completely disagree in that one it's not going to get my boss in trouble because he'll be just fine, 2 my employer does not give a crap if they're overloading me or not with too much work, and three they could not care any less about my health they have proven this for at least a decade

I worked out in the field with on call rotation. As such anyhours worked after 40 hours in a week is paid at time and a half. Paid holidays that are worked are paid bouble time and a half. So from my experience as a journeyman Tradesman. It paid alot!
Those salary plus bonus is bullshit. Sure get paid 80% of what you should by getting. And then beg for the rest. Fuck that.!
