The height difference at 9:38 isn’t flattering for either of us 😆 I can confirm that my TF’s clutch is still fully functional after the 0-60 test...a bonus point for durability to the MG I’d say.

The 160 VVC MGTF will wipe the floor with the 2.0 Z4s. The Germans needed 2.5L to match an English 1.8L

Haha give him a point for the cigarette lighter Joel! Having owned both cars it was a great vid to watch. Would say the MG is a great first convertible but it’s also got the British heritage which is kinda cool.

Love the MG a great car. Would highly recommend the tt mk7 exhaust.

I had a TF160 back in the day. Pretty ropey build quality but noisy, stiff, roar and it have me a knee injury. But a huge amount of fun. Loved it.

That guy done the MG no justice at all. The chicken we had for dinner had bigger bollocks.

I also have an MG TF with remap, custom performance exhaust, pipercross cold air feed etc. And that 0-60 was terrible.

your could close the tf roof from driver's seat, just reach out your arms backwards and pull it up. tf is mid engine rear drive retro fun thing, unlike the flashy z4.

TF does have cup holders! You just have to know where to look.

if you practise more the mg soft roof can be open in 3s,and if you arm have enough power you can close the roof when you are sit in the car, that’s what i used to do😁

How can you compare a bmw z4 with an mg tf? Z4 is a totally different league and both cars are not even rivals 😂

The thing is, why people would leave with the BMW is that most of young people don’t even know about MG anymore and are only interested in luxury stuff, not in the fun of driving a car and passion.

And as I saw the roof battle, man why does he take so long to take it up an down?!? You don’t even have to get out of the car for both!

Thanks for this, I own a Vauxhall Tigra which is one of the baby's of the convertible market. Yet its small engine keeps petrol prices down, has great storage in car, and fairly good boot storage with the roof down. I'm 54 with 3 years NCB, and got my eye on a second hand Z4, but was tempted by the MG. The MG is lovely, but the Z4 is iconic, with a lovely sound to the engine. I've never had such a wonderful driving experience with any other car, convertible's are certainly a mood enhancer. I was super lucky and the Tigra cost £700, with an electronic roof, electronic windows and mirrors etc. You guys helped me make up my mind and go for the Z4. Hopefully I can get it during late spring with the idea that there is a price drop during the colder months.

Take them both to France - the BMW Z4 will be pretty much ignored but the MG TF will receive an extraordinary amount of attention from people wondering what it is.

these clowns don't have a clue. factory 0 - 60 time is under ideal conditions with no passengers and they don't burn the clutch when pulling off either (MG driver)

Great showdown! Obviously I think the Z4 is the better car but I’ve always had a soft spot for the little MGs

At least get a decent TF if you want to do a comparison plus that 0-60 was embarrassing. Saying that 06 plates are rare they are very fun cars to drive, I have a 135 myself love it!

I had an MG TF, it was shit but good fun at the same time. Brakes weren't good enough, engine used to overheat after 30 mins of 'spirited' driving and in the rain it was quite simply dangerous. However you didn't have to be doing illegal speeds to have fun on a twisty road plus it had great feel in the steering, a nice short throw mechanical feeling gearshift and a responsive (if not that powerful) engine, it even sounded good for a 4-banger.

That car taught me how to drive a car fast, and do donuts!

The TF does have cup holders, two in fact, pull the flap down between the seat and on the inside is your cup holders. ;-)
