'LA Wildfires not contained' says fire chief

Anthony Marrone, the Los Angeles county fire chief, said that the Eaton fire was not at all contained, but that its “growth has been significantly stopped”.

The area destroyed had not grown since yesterday, and was holding at 10,600 acres, he said during a news briefing.

The Palisades fire, which has grown to more than 17,000 acres, was also completely uncontained and is proving a challenge for firefighters due to “extreme fire behaviour”, said Kristin Crowley, the Los Angeles city fire chief.

A trio of fast-growing wildfires raged out of control on Wednesday near Los Angeles, destroying hundreds of buildings, scorching hillsides and prompting officials to order some 70,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Fierce winds were hindering firefighting efforts and fuelling the fires, which have expanded unimpeded since they began on January 7.

I don't get it, its the second day of the fire and they are just sitting there watching it all burn to ground.
Where are other fire brigades from nearby states? Where are the fire helicopters, fire planes and other stuff which has to be supplied asap from other states.

The mayor of the city was conveniently out holidaying in Africa when it happened. She had also coincidentally cut $20mill of funding from the fire department just a short while ago, and the city had allowed the overgrowth of the flora in the area due to cut-backs, something Trump pointed out months ago. The city’s water had also been cut back from the northern areas and redirected into the sea. Satellite imagery also shows the fires all starting the exact same time from multiple separate locations. Literally *nothing* “wild” about these fires.
