I'm a 56 y/o .NET coder and bit of an audiophile too. Years ago I DIY built a pair of active speakers from a blank circuit board and parts from DigiKey using plans from Siegfried Linkwitz (of Linkwitz-Riley crossover fame). From an engineering viewpoint, active crossovers are superior to passive crossovers. Kevin Voecks and Andrew Jones both publicly expressed their strong preference to an active crossover design during an audiophile roundtable event, but lamented that active speakers simply don't sell because audiophiles won't purchase them. They hoped that the next generation of young audiophiles would not be so stuck in old ways of thinking and embrace the superior engineering (and audiophile) design.

This is interesting, now I understand why the you have such a comprehensive collection of microphones, from podcast microphones to professional recording microphones like the neumann I've seen in your live streams. I've been doing audio mastering for some years now and it would be interesting to geek out in a future live stream, I've have some knowledge about DSP as well which allows me to understand the programming foundations involved in digital signal processing, it's a niche and intriguing type of development.

I do full-time fullstack web dev with all the toys. Recently had to replace my 2016 MacBook and bought - a MacMini M2 Pro...I use a small fraction of available processing and memory. Unless you're processing video or audio or games, you don't need top-of-the-line computer.

Not that China produces good product / software, they just manufacture well designed products that other countries delegated to them. I mean, the good iPhone that was manufactured in China should be credited to the designers in Silicon Valley that give good design and instruction to the China's factories.
