This is 100% the analogy I use.

If someone who is anorexic or bulimic, came to you and said, I’m so fat, I need to lose weight.
Nobody would look at them and say yes you’re disgustingly fat. You should stop eating.

Got in a bit of trouble with a group of parents at my kids school when i asked if since kids can be anything they want why haven't we stopped treating kids for eating disorders. Shouldn't we affirm their identity?
