What research would you like to conduct on the ISS? Share them in the comments.

NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore were meant to spend just eight days on the International Space Station (ISS) but have now been there for 19 weeks due to complications with Boeing’s Starliner capsule, which returned to Earth without them on September 6. They will eventually come home on Elon Musk’s SpaceX Crew-9 Dragon spacecraft in early 2025.

Both seasoned astronauts, Williams and Wilmore have had significant careers in space, with Williams holding records for the most spacewalks by a woman and Wilmore piloting missions aboard the Space Shuttle. Despite the extended stay, they have remained positive, engaging in research and maintenance while also planning to vote from space in the upcoming presidential election.

NASA has emphasized that the astronauts are safe and not in a rush to return, taking lessons from past accidents to ensure their well-being. The return mission will include two other crew members, and they will continue their work on the ISS until February 2025.
