The history of planet 4546B is one littered with tragedy and dismay. Famous for its crucial role in combating the kharah bacterium, 4546B was thrust into the limelight following the Aurora and Degasi disasters. Yet few know these were NOT the first ships to crash on the planet. To find out more we must travel to the frigid landscape now known as sector zero.

I personally think the team in the ocean was attacked by warpers, as before the release of the baby sea emperor leviathans and the spread of enzyme 42, they were likely all over the planet maintaining the quarantine. Even though the squid shark in the depths is a possible attacker, I like to think they would have been able to describe some detail about it, where as the warpers could quite literally appear out of nowhere to surprise and confuse them as the warpers began to tear them apart.

Her final words were just terrifying. Trapped underwater with limited oxygen, you dont know what could be out there but, you manage to fall asleep thinking to yourself "ill save them" only to never wake up again

People with 20 hours of gameplay: this is a fun underwater adventure game.

People with 200+ hours: Subnautica is a horror game. They just don't tell you.

Imagine all the possible shipwrecks lying in the void. Possibly even alien ones

The guy begging to see his family again and wanting to leave to the couple that began to love each other while repairing the ship, all so lovely, almost made me cry knowing in the end they'd all die...

Subnaticas story is so interesting, it’s crazy how you can find out every bit and put it into a simple explanation

oh damn I literally explored the oldest ship without knowing it was a big piece of the lore

the fact that Ryley Robinson managed to get of the Planet all by himself and there were like 20-30 people on the mercury II and still couldn't do it is crazy

14:28 I like how despite this guy vowing to never enter the ocean again; he acknowledges that they're likely not the only ones suffering, and he correctly guessed that there was a sickness on the planet

I think the Mercury 2 was commission by the same Trans-Gov as the Sunbeam. Would be nice to learn more about these smaller powers in the Subnautica universe.

I think the people who died on Elliot's team definitely got killed by Warpers. This was a time when Al-an was inside the facility, as they detected the distress signal, meaning all the Architects had probably long since left the planet. That means that the virus would've been at it's strongest, most likely, and thus the warpers probably would've been at their largest in numbers as well.

Lore wise, Warpers also have insanely sharp claw-arm-thingys, which would make sense since Elliot's team got "torn to pieces". Most likely, sliced to pieces instead.

He said that he noticed a lot of animal life with pustules, meaning the virus was very much there and very much thriving, so there's strong evidence to suggest that his team could've been infected without even knowing it, since we later learn after he returns that the crew was also getting sick.

All in all, it seems very likely to have been warpers, teleporting in and killing the infected before teleporting away quickly enough that Elliot had no idea what killed his team, only able to hear their screams as they died.

The one that always messes with me is the guy who wanted to make enough money for his family and just wanted to see them again. It's good character writing because it makes us emotional attached to the character and gives that extra emotion when he dies.

After watching everything from Aurora, Degasi, and this. It really feels weird how the only person who made out alive is someone who's not an expert in engineering, medicine, or alien studies.

I don't think squidsharks were the cause. In the jumpscare animations, the squidsharks attempt to /swallow/ you, they don't tear you apart.

This kind of feels like a Jullius Verne novel, it's a greek an arab and two americans stranded in the arctic. Exept everyone dies of cource.

That first dive... Did they not think that an ocean would have predators? Big predators?

I'm more scared of what else tore through the ship. There were giant holes deep inside of the ship. That wouldn't happen from getting hit by a giant laser and hitting the water hard. Something made those, and it could easily tear through space-ship grade metal.

I personally think this is the best part of BZs story. It's just so real and human. It does a great job at reminding us that the crew of the Mercury, Degasi, and Aurora are (supposed to be) real people who had lives outside of "They were on your ship and now they died, womp womp, have some blueprints".
