I don`t care if Elsa`s dress is not period specific, it`s Elsa and she looks great in anything. 💖

I wish you did Esmeralda's outfits as well, from Hunchback of Notre-Dame. I'm guessing the bare shoulders are anachronical, but the rest of the movie seemed quite rooted in reality, especially Frollo's outfit as well as some of the other gypsies, Clopin coming to mind...Phoebus' golden and blue look seemed fair as well, for something at the turn of the tide between the Middle Ages and the French Renaissance.

Loved it, but a correction: Sleeping Beauty is baeed on the Perrault version, so she's French. Also worth pointing out the 1800s French anthem plays when Aurora wakes up, and the fleur de lis is seen subtly in the castle, like on furniture and curtains.

Edit: the French anthem plays when Aurora and Phil meet the parents

Cinderella you could argue for her main dress that it was conjured by magic (as was Elsa's). The early princesses definitely were made to match the fashions of the time the movies came out as a way to appeal to the then modern audiences, which I find cool in that way. And Sleeping Beauty while medieval also had a ballet feel to it in the costumes, especially with Aurora's peasant dress (I mean they did use music from the ballet).
In short, I appreciate the movies where cultural/historical accuracy was strived for, as well as the ones meant to be a stylistic, modern-inspired (at least modern then) fairy tale.

if Snow White takes place in the 16th century then Disney made a little mistake, Snow White says when she sees the Dwarf House ''Just Like A Dolls House'' but those were first invented in the 17th century, minor mistake but still worth mentioning

I’ve never really thought of this one but I think “Sleeping Beauty” is more likely set in France since the vast majority of the characters (for example Aurora, Phillip, King Stephan, Flora and Maleficent) have Romance/French or Latinate names.

44: Cinderella’s silver then blue dress, Belle’s yellow ballgown dress, Mulan’s dress, Tiana’s blue dress and her green dress, Rapunzel’s pink/purple dress, Merida’s turquoise dress, Elsa’s dress in Frozen II, and Moana’s dress are my favorites

Ariel's wedding dress was *MY WEDDING DRESS!* I got married in 1993, but only realized years later that it was the exact same style!

To all those people saying that the INDIAN princess should wear sarees, we'll that depends, mostly it's like a ghaghra or a lehenga or a gown type, you should check up actual Indian princess, few wore sarees & most were in commoner's attire

The clothes in Mulan really got me interested in hanfu, which is super trendy now and has even non-Chinese wearing it (respectfully). I used to get annoyed by culturally ignorant people/costumes for sale online that say she's wearing a Japanese kimono or geisha attire when the clothes of that period in China actually inspired and predated other cultural garments like kimonos and hanbok, not the other way around. Even with the internet, it's sad people blur the lines of East Asian cultures, especially the weeb-ish/koreaboo types. Got into a comment argument with one guy who proudly claimed Mulan had aspects from Japanese culture but didn't even know Japan adapted some cultural elements from China, didn't even know there were freaking traditional Chinese characters in part of the Japanese alphabet...
