How to hard prune a shrub without spoiling its appearance

Rogers lovely Crinodendron shrub has got to big and is blocking the view of the surrounding hills in the south Wales garden.
We waited until the spring flowers have finished in June (we could have pruned earlier in spring ... I would say that here in the UK, a hard prune is usually good from mid March onwards, but we wanted to enjoy the flowers first)
In this video Roger shows us where he makes cuts into the stems / branches and how he manages to hide most of the ugly stumps by leaving some green leafy shoots around the outside of the plant to hide the stumps.

my sweet peas brought me to your videos this morning , im glad they did think they were desperate for help lol, got some catching up to do thanks for explaining stuff and making it easy to understand . you wouldnt think i, d worked in a garden nursery for 16 years but it was 20 or so years ago and ive got old lol .i needed a brain refresher so thanks ive just subbed .
