Nice review. The outside is carbon fiber, not quite plastic. The outer case has a plasticized coating like most thinkpads. You can usually swap the left function and control keys in the configuration software.

The buttons above are for your thumb while using the nub. Otherwise, they'd be on the bottom of the touch pad.
