Mandi Pike, a 33-year-old mother of three, was diagnosed with lung cancer, but she has never smoked. She went to the doctor after a persistent cough and was initially misdiagnosed. At first thinking it was pneumonia, a scan later revealed it was lung cancer. A recent study showed that 12% of people diagnosed with lung cancer never smoked. Actor Dustin Diamond, who played Screech on “Saved By the Bell,” died three weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer, and was also a non-smoker. #InsideEdition

My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer too and she didn’t even smoke. She thought she had bronchitis so she went to the hospital and found out she was diagnosed with it, later on we did some more testing and found out that she has MID LINE NUT CARCINOMA. My mom is 37 years old hope this helps.

I thought smoking increases the chance of lung cancer, not outright causing it. Cancer comes from a large number of things, from genetics, environment, sickness, and so on. Yes, smoking can greatly increase your risk of lung cancer but it’s not the only thing that causes it.

My uncle passed away in 2000 from cancer even though he never drank nor smoked.

What if she never smoked? It should be common sense that smoking makes the chance of getting it higher, not creating the chance of getting it. Right?

My dad got diagnosed 2 months ago with Stage 2 lung cancer, he never smoked or drinked. He’s doing radio therapy at the moment. I hope all the families out there who have been affected by cancer with have a good outcome.

I’m glad that more awareness of these illnesses is being talked about more, because there’s still many people in the world who think that you have to have been a smoker at some point in order to get lunch cancer. Being smoke-free all your life is not an immunity to lung cancer, just like never going tanning is not a way to be immune from skin cancer either. This needs to be preached to the world.
