ICAST 2023: THE RODS!!! LOTS OF BFS OPTIONS NOW

At this years ICAST, the thing I noticed most was that alot of companies are getting into bfs on the rod side of things

I have 2 of the walmart abu garcia vengeance rods. Got one on sale for 12 bucks. Works great with a slx dc for bass fishing. Many bass caught and no complaints for the price.

I recently bought myself an EVERGREEN LIGHT CAVALRY CLCC-68ML. The model is certainly not the newest, but of high class and quality. I really like this rod and worth the money ☝️.

Try the 13 fishing fate green medium light 6’9”…. And the Fenwick elite inshore medium light 7’

I got thr kestrel rod in light for my zephyr. I mainly use thst tod for 1/8 oz lures. Great rod. Casts far. The carbon fiber weave pattern i think is just a decal wrap. You can see the parting line. I plan on getting a ul or fl version for my valiant eagle 2. Not sure which one yet. I use thst reel for lighter lures under 1/8 oz.

That Super Combat Stick is made for Bladed jig, and a bit expensive ... Expride 172MHG or 173MH-LM done the job for half the price

I bought a vengeance from walmart recently. Its not comfortable to hold, I actually accidentally threw it and my daiwa in at the bank because its not ergonomic.

A selection of _affordable_ BFS rods seems to be what they can't manage. _Normal people_ affordable. You can find a army of more-than-good-enough, cheap, under $50 (heck one of my favorite rods ever sells for $18), ultralight spinning rods, but slap a casting grip on an ultralight blank and suddenly the price skyrockets.

Tackle warehouse has the wrong lure rating on the Curado 6’8 light. Shimano list the lure rate at 1/8-3/8

I own the L 3 piece Kestrel BFS Rod and it works great, I was grabbing Smallies, KY Bass, and some weird Carp type fish on Elkhorn creek in KY. I paired it with the Curado BFS mainly with 1/8th oz Tubes and it performed very well IMO. I was not sure about the 3 piece but to me it felt very solid as if it was a 1 piece overall I recommend.

Just remember when you buy dobyns your buy Chinese! So a 20 dollar rod cost 200 😮
