Portal is one of those games where the graphics don't need to be amazing to have a good time. I suggest if you don't have a beefy computer don't do this, because even if it does run your frames will drop a lot, making it hard to do a lot of the momentum based stuff

The RTX off looks better, It is more detailed as well as it better suits the theme of portal,

I like the look of the classic portals better. There's no black splotches in RTX.

Oh, and also the whole "Setting my mid computer on fire" this, but the PORTALS!

I think Portal is one of those games that’s better without RTX. Portal’s atmosphere and aesthetic feels very carefully tailored to what Valve was going for and RTX just looks so far from that that it doesn’t really feel like Portal anymore. It looks nice, I can’t really deny that, but it kind of takes away from the experience imo

Edit: I should say that this is just my personal opinion and gaming preferences and I’m not trying to give any advice on how anyone should play Portal, with or without RTX

I prefer the orginal the little shitty cold rough lighting adds to the atmosphere

Okay but why does the original manage to look even better then normal tho? Its like taking the ugly friend to the bar with you.... I think its because of the fact that the RTX doesn't bring anything to the table and is so unnecessary that its just a reminder how perfect the original was and still is

rtx gets rid of the texture and detail in the floors and walls. definitely prefer the original

the original looks more stylized and 2004 but with RTX on it looks fuckable

I love this game but it sucks you need ultra performance and low res if you want the game to be actually be playable with a 3050 or other older graphics cards
