So, the Humean camp reduces the causal principle to some sort of epistemological or psychological language, without committing oneself to its ontological status in a metaphysically heavy sense? The non-Humean camp, however, asserts the ontic nature of the causal principle?

Good overview, but I don’t see why you mention consensus. We should concern ourselves with what is true, regardless of whether it is the consensus view.
