If your router does not support dd-wrt there is a simple fix:
But a 20/30m Ethernet cable from ebay usually £$ 2-5, connect two routers together or use powerline, and turn DHCP off on the second router and when you connect to the second router, you will have Internet access

Hey quick question, with the repeater router I'm assuming I have to set it up and connect it to the modem/main wifi router and connect my computer to it first before I go about setting it up as a repeater?

yes! i have been using dd wrt repeater bridge now for over a year without incident. 2 things to add:

1: a AWUS antennae does a LOT for wifi connection, I use it with the longer 18" antenna.

2: dd-wrt repeater seems to drop connection for me briefly once an hour or so if I don't set my devices to static IP

Under wireless mode, instead of repeater and repeater bridged, I have WDS station and WDS AP, are they te same?

It's so simple with DD-WRT, but when I was setting up another router at my home, none supported it. After a lot of tinkering with it, I finally set it up by connecting routers with an ethernet cable, disabling DHCP on the secondary router and that was pretty much it. It is not the same wireless AP, but still gets the job done.

Before doing this you need to ask yourself, how far do I need the signal to go? Across the house or outside a ways? Is there any obstructions? Do I have a surge breaker in my antenna for outdoor antennas? Do I have a surge protector at point of the extender router?
