In today's video, we will learn the addition and subtraction of like and unlike surds.

Similar surds can be added together or subtracted from one another. Before addition or subtraction, the surds should first be simplified, if possible.

Examples of similar/like surds are a√x, b√x, c√x while surds of the form a√x, b√y, c√z are not similar and cannot be added or subtracted from each other.
