"Morals and Dogma" is a book of esoteric philosophy published by the Supreme Council, Thirty Third Degree, of the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction of the United States. It was compiled by Albert Pike, was first published in 1871 and was regularly reprinted thereafter until 1969. The book is a collection of thirty-two essays which provide a philosophical rationale for the degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. The lectures provided a backdrop for the degrees by giving lessons in comparative religion, history and philosophy. The original printing had 861 pages of text, while a 218-page Digest-Index was added by Trevanion W. Hugo, 33°, in 1909. Its thirty-two chapters discuss the philosophical symbolism of a degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in extensive detail. In Pike's original Preface, he noted: \"In preparing this work, the Grand Commander has been about equally Author and Compiler; since he has extracted quite half of its contents from the works of the best writers and most philosophic or eloquent thinkers. Perhaps it would have been better and more acceptable if he had extracted more and written less. Everyone is entirely free to reject and dissent from whatsoever herein may seem to him to be untrue or unsound.\" Although Morals and Dogma is an esoteric book, it was not a secret one; Pike's original preface was clear that any Mason could own the book, but only Scottish Rite Masons would be encouraged to own one. There are 32 chapters, one for each of the degrees in the Southern Jurisdiction, except for the 33°. These chapters generally consist of comparative religion, philosophy, comparative etymologies, symbolism, and numerology. The book is a spiritual instruction manual for the Masonic order, and represents the philosophy of Scottish Rite Freemasonry as understood by Pike, who is known as the leading figure of the American Masonic revival movement of the mid-nineteenth century. The book encompasses a study of Freemasonry, wise philosophy, ancient mysteries, mythology, ritual, and religion. It serves the useful purpose of putting Masonic morality and ethics within the context of the general society, and bids man to think large--to cast aside the petty concerns of everyday life and to improve ourselves.

This is the most interesting book I have ever [read]/listened to, so far, in my life at the age of 50.

An important cipher that will help anyone decipher this book and any other Occult and or Esoteric writings is this. Intelligence: What and How(Science)(Female). Wisdom: Why(Theology)(Male). What(facts), how(Truth), and why(Wisdom/just is and is unchanging). Wisdom is comprised of a light truth and a dark truth. The light truth and the dark truth when separated make the 'how' and facts are what make up the two truths and are subject to change and come in much higher quantity.

Another important note is when they use the word "work" in the 4th chapter Secret Master, they mean "The Great Works". The Great Works refers to spiritual enlightenment for yourself and others to ultimately increase the overall consciousness of humanity so that we can continue to Ascend until we have achieved the final form of Ascension which is reconnect with heaven and be able to communicate with those above us and eventually join them.

I will say the only way anyone is going to fully grasp any of this book is if they themselves have gone through all 32 degrees (the combination of the blue lodge and the Scottish rite). Even then, Pike still leaves it to the imagination to unravel the fact that all of this and the Kabbalah are essentially manuals on becoming god, manifestation, and the understanding of paradox and natural law, how to ignore the 3D and bend reality with the mind and body. Combining Kabbalah, astrology, numerology, Gematria, and non duality.
