In this workshop, the speaker, Michelle, started by defining climate change. She then asked participants to share how they are affected by climate change. Having established a clear understanding of the term, she then moved on to discuss why it is important to address this issue in the language classroom. Michelle then demonstrated using two lesson ideas, one each for primary and secondary school learners. These lesson ideas were adapted from the wealth of ideas available on the British Council website. The practical and engaging session concluded with Michelle sharing a lesson plan cycle which participants could use in their classrooms. This session enabled participants to discuss the effects of climate change, experience activities and ideas to integrate climate action in their language lessons and explore simple yet creative ways to implement it in their classroom/community.
