The 10 day forecast shows a break in the rain next week. Let's hope that it just slows down but doesn't stop completely, we still need more water, most of the water from these recent storms has been wasted because the ground is already saturated

People need to stop going out in these situations. Most of these deaths could have been avoided.

Then in the summer they will be burning and begging for rain. No rest for that state.

Only California can be flooded and in a drought at the same time.

A lot of people live in what they believe is "flat" but what it really is are very large, fairly shallow basins and roads that raise and lower. They don't realize the "flat road" they've driven on for 20 years is not flat, it is gradually undulating and at some point, will be under a lot of water.

That they've really been driving on very gradual inclines and declines and at the point of each meeting is a lake. Those hills and berms "far away" become dams that hold the water in and eventually create a hazard. They don't realize their tires will be slightly buoyant and let their car lose traction and float into deeper water than they expected to be in.
Once it gets too deep and the car takes on water it sinks- and they can't open the doors because of the water pressure, the electronics short out and the windows won't open.
Some think their 4WD will overcome this. No- it won't.
If they can't drive with one side of the car on solid ground, it's still water, a puddle surrounded by drier land, AND see the road through the water that it's only a couple of inches do not go. If the water is moving at ALL, no matter what do not go.
Water is very powerful and it doesn't take much. 100 gallons of water weighs 834 pounds.
In floods we're talking THOUSANDS of gallons.
Stay home. Take another route. Live for another day.

why was there a 5 year old even there..those parents should be charged for reckless endangerment. Like you didn't know and whats even more funny is you decide key word to stay in a "unlivable" what should be roped off and deemed as Hazardous environment. There is just dumb...and then there is DUMBER.
