Weirdest and most unusual railroad crossing! This level railway crossing only has A Bell & cross bucks! Norfolk Southern Railroad Maintenance Of Way train WITH DPU on railroad main line in Crittenden, Kentucky USA. 3 Trains passing a public RR crossing. What is all the cool maintenance equipment on the first train and did you notice the MOW boxcars? Cool NS trains including a DPU ( Distributed Power Unit ) and an interesting and rare railroad crossing. Leave a comment below if you have ever seen a crossing like this with just a bell on a cross buck. Just to maintain that one single bell requires a paved parking lot with a metal shanty for electrical equipment and an electric meter on a pole. Just think of how expensive it is to maintain that single bell. My theory is that the crossing use to have flashers and was downgraded. Why else would one of the crossing posts be made out of metal? I have seen one other similar crossing with one bell but it was on a wooden post. That one was on the CSX River line along the Ohio River near Augusta, Kentucky. I filmed this on November 8, 2021. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! Please leave a comment, rate up or down and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO JAWTOOTH!!

PLEASE WATCH ONE OF MY BEST VIDEOS BELOW!!

Really cool, I've saw lights without bells but that's the first time I've ever saw a bell without lights! Cool find Jawtooth! Thanks for sharing it with us!

There was a cross buck bell near were I grew up, between Greenville and Belding Michigan. Only ever can upon it once when it was ringing, and I believe it was a malfunction. The line was removed around 2006-2008.

Signed (railway crossing as opposed to railroad) only crossings are pretty much the norm here in Oz on rural crossings. Called 'passive" as opposed to ' active' crossings equipped with lights and/or gates. Mind you, I must admit our freight trains don't hustle the way they do in the US, plenty of long trains, but no where near as quick. Always enjoy the clips.

What a cool crossing. That bell on top of that post is pretty cool too.

Yep that crossing definitely has a 'Southern railway ' flavor that hasn't been rubbed out by corporate NS in what 39 years ? That must be downhill for heading south. That is a cool unique crossing you found there, was Northbound pulling very hard? interesting . Boxcars are making a comeback, I thought we might see 'Shoestring' in the boxcar with the door open @ 2:11 going south, but he is in Wyoming right now! Going to watch his video after watching three of Mr JT's videos. ( Have to support Chessie and Little Cat) They need bologna ! Have a good one JT ! best regards Sam,

Two fast trains.. 1). 2 eng. 113 cars; then DPU then 22 more total 135; (2) 3 eng. 85 cars (give or take); 3) 2 eng. 160-180.. sidetracked by the sun. // Thanks Brian for the bell info.. COOL!!

Yes, it's fairly common in Germany (where I grew up) and also New Zealand (where I've been living for the past 20 years) for rail crossings to only have the cross bucks and not even a bell.

Great as always. Love the green ‘engineering’ box car— reminds me of the Penn Central. Thank you JT

Two fast and a slower.
Love that bell, never seen one like that, sounds good, too, very steady and clear!
Still amazed how fast they zoom over that shoo-fly, super sturdy temp tracks, wow!

JT, sweet catch. I've never seen a cross buck with a Bell. I don't remember the last time I saw a N&S with DPU power. The goats were cool too.

Must've been some crazy dangerous stuff in those tank cars on that first train? Lots of buffer cars in between. That FRED hose was hanging too!
That second one is bailin like Van Halen!
Have a great Sunday Jawtooth!!

Loves "what's the hurry? You just get there and just have to wait" or something like that.🤣 Looks like a beautiful day. I suppose the "bell" is cheaper than the lights and bell.

Really cool video. That road clearly gets or little traffic. The cylindrical bell was unique. It sure does the job. Those were all a great set of trains. As always, it's great to see the goats and Norfie.
