Surviving a Catastrophic Engine Failure part 2: the Aircraft Recovery

This ComancheZOOM is the second in a series recounting Will Carpenter’s
experiences when dealing with a catastrophic engine failure while flying
his Comanche, and his emergency landing in a Carolina bean field. In this
session Will describes the recovery of his aircraft and delivery to a repair
shop.
He describes his efforts to deal with the various authorities and with his
insurance adjuster to arrange for the recovery – who and how to do it, and where to take the aircraft for repair. How he went about finding a repair shop with Comanche experience, or at least willing to learn. There are lots of tips on what the recovery process involved and how to prevent some of the later problems.
Will is returning in two later Zooms to recount his experience working with the insurance company and rebuilding and upgrading the airplane.
