Kafka was never a truely a loser. He kept passing the education section of the JDSF but the practical physical part he failed. He joined the kaiju cleaning company before he gave up. This is reference in episode 2 and I think I remember it being mentioned in the manga.
Also cleaning up the dead Kajiu takes courage to do, especially dealing with kaiju guts.
It was hilarious seeing No 10 and the Vice Captain to work together.
I figured long before it was reviled why Kafka was unable to get anything from the kaiju suits was because he was a perfect human/kaiju hybrid.
I do admit I didn't conect part of the reason why Kafka got chosen as a host for No 8 was because long term exposure to kaiju dna. I figured part of Kafka getting chosen as No 8 host was strong will and wanting to kill all kaiju trying to kill humanity.

Kaiju no. 9 and Parasite Kaiju no. 8 are the same species of Kaiju. The only difference is that how they possess their vessel. As we know, no. 9 acquire his vessel by devouring them. However, no.8 choose his vessel by entering bodies. And what confuses me is, Kaiju no. 8 really planned to be devoured by Kafka, not actually controlling him. This marks my speculation that the Parasite Kaiju no.8 is indeed not evil entity. However, his plan is still not yet revealed. If Kaiju no. 8 plans to takeover Kafka, he had done it earlier, the first he entered Kafka's body. Instead, he did is, he just make Kafka a Kaiju but he didn't control him.

Maybe the Kaiju really failed to control Kafka's brain, but. He is a Kaiju, if he really did cannot control Kafka's brain, he could destroy it and find another host. There's so much mysteries on Kaiju no. 8 as it's like, he really plans to eradicate all kaijus and protecting humanity.

The scene where kafka go to the shrine, an image of a fierce samurai shows up. It's possible that the samurai ghost is the 1st Kaiju no8 since both of them has a resemblance.

17:32 I honestly like that. While monsters. They are intelligent enough to believe someone being worthy to use their strength. Hence why the suits didn’t just work for anyone. They had to prove to the kaiju they were worthy to wields its power.

And it seemed the kaiju within had a respect for their users. Hence why it would not release its full strength till it was sure they were the user was right one.
