HTML5 Video in the Open Web Platform

Показать описание
HTML5 adds support for video by introducing a dedicated element, the video tag, as well as various methods to manipulate playback. As such, it makes video a first-class citizen of the Web, completely integrated within HTML and its adjacent technologies, such as CSS or SVG, while enabling proper accessibility capabilities.

This initial support is now being extended to accommodate more use cases, such as live streaming or video conferencing. Starting with the basics, W3C's Philippe Le Hégaret will look at ongoing work with HTML5 video, including real time, captioning and protected content.

Good to know, didn't had the time to check this attribute. Thanks for the video :)

why? webm is garbage. bad quality, terrible loop filter, only 3 frames of reference, more cpu processing, terrible compression, and completely unsuited for fast motion video. not to mention webm usage is potentially prone to lawsuits since they don't hold any patents on the technologies they use for their open standard. even with h264 requiring royalties, that is only for videos that are being sold in some way. do you have an argument that actually supports webm other than it being open?
