As a South African I can say that Myths & Legend of Southern Africa by Penny Miller is staple reading when growing up. A lot of those "myths" are held as popular belief and a lot of the customs used to respect those myths that she mentions in that book are as normal for us here as buying milk and bread by both indigenous tribes as well as descendants of the European settlers.

A book you absolutely HAVE to get is called Indaba, My Children by Credo Vusamazulu Mutwa and its sequel titled Africa Is My Witness. Credo Mutwa was a traditional healer called a sangoma and also a sanusi (diviner within the Zulu tribe). He passed away last year at the ripe age of 98, rather fitting or someone of his life.

Happy Reading! :D

I've been watching your videos in order and so far I feel like you're even more excited about African mythology! Which region is your current favorite mythology? I think African mythology is underrated, but at least you've made me interested in it!

Thank you very much! I hope you keep making more such videos! It is also good that you showed us the books up close. I have a few questions- wouldn't the African epics be in African languages? Have you ever read the original epics or just the translations? Where can I find the epics online?
