What a great job, of piloting this aircraft!!

My Dad was in the Air Force for 25 years, we saw a few things now & then. When we where stationed in Puerto Rico, we all where in the house; which just happened to be next to the runway. There was a huge boom, then our entire house seemed to be shaking, to us kids anyway..

We all ran out side & low & behold a huge jet had crashed. Not to say it was crosswinds But, man it was a huge things to see the after effects, all that bad stuff.

I don't see anything wrong in that crab landing procedure, from pilot point of view- well done !!!!

It is not crazy but a normal procedure for landing with strong cross wind. I did that multiple times. The idea is to keep the plane's descend along the axis of the runway by flying with the nose to the wind. Right before touch down the pilot has to turn the nose to line up with the runway to avoid excess side load on the landing gear.

I was on a small charter plane (8 seater) flying into a small private island in the San Juans. The 20 minute flight was 45 minutes because of the wind. The runway was grass with trees on both sides. As soon as the plane got below the tree line, it fell like a rock with the left wing falling straight for the ground. The pilot yelled "HANG ON!" as alarms were blaring. He got us down but the charter company cancelled all other flights for the day. NEVER been so scared in my life 😮
