This is a Tolstoy work I have not read but now I want to. It sounds as if Tolstoy was expressing his personal journey through the last few years of his life.

Hello Emmelie! I hope you are doing well. I read this book several years ago and I remember enjoying it. Sad thing is that since it was a while ago with several books read since then, so I have forgotten things about it. However, I do remember enjoying it and other Tolstoy books I have read. I look forward to your next video. Have a great day!

I had barely heard of this one. Thank you for giving us a good flavor of what it's about.

Oh, btw, I read this book when I was 23, decades ago. I felt spiritually lifted from it...

Hello Emmelie . New subscriber from Australia here. Many years ago I was a great Tolstoy fan and read everything I could find by him. I still have a high regard for him but I haven't reread any of his books for a while. I'm glad you reviewed Resurrection as it tends to be the 'forgotten' book of Tolstoy. I remember it as a very didactic book, rather more involved with pushing his 'philosophy' than writing a novel to be enjoyed as a novel.
I have only recently discovered your channel and enjoy it very much!

I will not lie, Tolstoy has always intimidated me. Probably not a classic I would dive into, but I hope those that are up to the challenge to get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Happy reading, everyone.

I need to get on your level. My TBR is very high. I've been wanting to get back into Russian literature. I was thinking Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov but there is something compelling about the passages you've shared from Resurrection. Maybe it's the narrative of a jurist with his eyes open to the ills of the world. This is the sort of depth I would like to bring into my own writing.

There are historical elements in this story that Tolstoy refashioned to celebrate the virtues of loyalty and devotion.

Hi! I've read both War and Peace & Anna Karenina but haven't got round to this one - I'll have to rectify that! 💓

I read this book not long after finishing War and peace. My mistake was that I had expected it to be another, maybe a bit heavier-theme novel, which it wasn't. Once I realized it. i was hoping it would be fruitful for me as a Christian, but then again Tolstoy kinda distorts Christianity in the book. So yeah, I have mixed feelings on this one.

If you haven't read "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov, I would highly recommend it! Would be pretty cool if you did a video on it.

Hello. For me this was more of a screed than it was a novel.
