Great point! But as an Italian I must mention, Italy was the only nation which had to undergo heavy austerity without receiving any bailouts during the euro crisis. It remained one of the biggest contributors to EU budgets while undergoing brutal austerity. This is part of the reason Spain, Portugal, Greece and Cyprus all rebounded strongly by the late 2010’s but Italy did not until post pandemic booms.

Hi, Polish guy here. The problem we see with combined air defense system in the EU is that it will effectively be under Germany's control and we in Poland don't trust the Germans not to sell us out to the Russians in a heartbeat, when it will be convenient for them. Also we are building our own air defense system, which is at the more advanced stage of completion than the EU one.

Von der Leyen was first family minister in Germany, then unsuccessful minister of the military resulting in Kindergartens in Military bases and I heart even adaptations for pregnant soldiers in tanks. Then she was transferred away and out to the EU, moved into position, even someone else won the vote. She is so well connected (her grand dad was a EU founder), nothing happens to her. We see all the way corruption at its best.
