Because he said what I've been saying for years.
Ok, that's not why but he (and I) are totally right on this.

Hey Joseph, I agree with his assessment that it is crazy enough to have 3 people writing a song yet along 15? What is this world coming to? I write my own lyrics. I am “old school” in taking a chord progression and then start to make sense of it all MYSELF. No one is helping me. Aside from everything else said (and aside from what seems obvious to me - listening to song for first time just now, seeing video, and not feeling strongly re Coldplay one way or another - that the song is essentially a "vehicle" piece, and a generic one at that, for this array of well-known musicians), the song also clearly borrows (read: copies) verse melody from well-known hit Wild World by Cat Stevens (although it prob originates in familiar classical music).

you're seriously missing the point of this entire song. each guest on the track has their own verse for what they want to see better in the world. that's where the 5 of the writers come in (chris martin, elyanna, little simz, burna boy, tini), not 14 (the actual amount of writers listed) writers to write lyrics. you are not supposed to take these lyrics literally. if you took a basic 101 course in english, you'd be able to break it down more effectively instead of complaining every 2 seconds. if you knew a thing or two about songwriting credits, you'd know that 15 people did not wrong the lyrics. 5 (chris martin, elyanna, tini, little simz, burna boy) people wrote their own verses for each version of the song. the other 3 are the band members. that puts us at 8. max martin and ilya are the core producers of the song. that's 10. davide rossi arranged the strings on the track (11 now). 2 of the other songwriters were for tini's version of the song, not the single version (13). JAY-Z contributed in with a few very small details. that gives us our 14.

now if you take those 14, and subtract the two producers, the two songwriters for tini's version, tini, elyanna, davide rossi (string arranger), jonny, will, and guy. you have 4 writers for the lyrics, with the single version (each for their own respective parts). add davide rossi (for the strings), the rest of the band members (for their parts), that puts us at 8, which is perfectly normal for a collaboration of this size.

since you're brainwashed into thinking 14 people wrote the lyrics for this song, it's actually 5 for the album version. there's 3 other versions of the song which contain completely different lyrics by tini, elyanna, and the little simz versions. so that's why everyone is credited despite elyanna and tini not having their respective verses. max martin handled production, so did ilya.

I think this video would have been better if it had explained the meaning of “sing ‘Baraye’ “. “Baraye” is I think a song associated with Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody in Iran.

I've read the lyrics and I couldn't believe it too. How many times could they repeat the word "pray" in one song? It feels more like a "fill the holes" formula than lyrics.

Absolutely dreadful, and I'll bet all 15 are good songwriters. Just think what would have come out of each of them writing their own song instead of all jumping into one horrible one. How did someone look at this drivel and agree to release it?
