- Bigger, better maps, better terrain sculpting, and much more!

Took me 5 minutes to realize it's Kingdom and Castle in Roman times. Nice. Plus there is "Water Physics" and terrain modification.

Kingdom And Castles is one of the best supported games in my libray. Great content updates, Steam deck and VR support with even new content 6 year after release. Yeah i trust this guys to deliver a great game once again.

I thought it looked like it was made by the same people who made Kingdoms and Castles, and it is! Neat. Kingdoms and Castles was cool.

Pax Augusta is the game to watch! I’ve never seen a more passionate project than this. 💯

Gotta agree that the people seems too low poly, but otherwise I don't mind the artstyle, and actual water physics, is certainly intriguing, specially with how central water is to a roman city, you would think there would be more roman city builders that have it

I really like low poly games as an art style and the cube people, if they looked like humans they would look too detailed compared to the surrounding structures

I love the look and the lower poly compared to the super resolution of new city builders. I would exchange high resolution city building game to get unlimited map size and free flow drawing. Cube people are cute they don't need to be anything other than eye
candy !

Thanks for bringing it to my attention -- so much game news today!

Can't agree more with your assessment of the citizens being the breaking point here for me visually. The city buildings actually look quite beautiful, and the terrain's simplicity is made up for with its malleability- but the citizens just being like, simpler than lego minifigures with effectively no animation or personality at all is a serious detractor. Seeing the colloseum lion just bob up and down on a hinge kind of killed the atmosphere next to the gorgeous architecture

You're spot on with the people killing the low poly look. I love the look of Islanders and Dorfromantik and I don't mind the style of this at all until I see the citizens as little blocks.

Let's see a high complexity, low poly city builder with maybe 2D sprites if you absolutely need walkers or citizens. I might enjoy that kind of game!

It does look cool. As for low polygon ppl.. in all honesty I'll be playing any City builder zoomed out anyway, zooming in only to work with overlays and manage specific issues, zooming out again, then done. So that shouldn't be a problem, if the game has fun mechanics. As a bonus, low polygon approach (it's a niche thing granted), will save battery on my gaming laptop then traveling, allowing for longer sessions be4 I have to power off the comp.

I think the people are pretty alright, i dont know what else the people could look like?

For me, I'd have to see gameplay first. Gave you channel a plug on their discussion forum.
Hopefully they will give you access to the game prelaunch to we can watch you play :D

I'd like to see if a combination could work. Low poly when zoomed out, and as you zoom in the houses get more and more detail.

This looks cool. Not a low poly fan but I could get around this with the add in of the tech tree. Looking forward to it. Love the review Zakh!

yes. yes it is. Kingdoms and Castles' mechanics are tight and this will add flooding which I think can be quite fun.

It looks really good, and less ridgid, adding simulation to the dangers. Gonna stay interested.
