Fanmade or not, it is interesting to think about how Beta 1.8 was presented to the playerbase back in the days when it wasn't quite released yet. I've been around the block a few times, and played nearly every version from Alpha 1.1.2 to Full Release 1.14. The interesting thing is the difference between the excitement it at first generated, and the hatred Beta 1.8 gained from - not everybody - but a lot of people, eventually, once the launch had settled.

It was built up like exploring was going to develop into these fun, fresh, amazing new quests, but later on a lot of people looked at Beta 1.8 and thought really the world was now just a lesser terrain generator with no snow biomes and a few new kinds of structure you can potentially find, the only one in my opinion being that great being Abandoned Mineshafts. I _love_ Abandoned Mineshafts. In my opinion Beta 1.8 did a few noteworthy things right. In my opinion it also messed up in a lot of places.

Either way, the point to take away from this I think is that before we saw what Beta 1.8 was for ourselves, we had a powerful imaginary image of what we all thought the version would be like when the day comes, and at times that image was beautiful, and maybe one day it would be nice to make some of those images reality. If somebody could make new redesigned versions of old Minecraft that took what a lot of people wanted The Adventure Update to be and made those mental spaces really playable.

Personally, I really like the mood of Beta 1.8, and am trying to find ways currently to do something with that. Maybe I can harness its vibes and still have gameplay that suits my tastes.

@happycheese9 Its called the "Adventure Update". There will be lots of new stuff, such as NPC villages, Critical Hits, and MANY MORE! Notch has a blog post about it.

Great dude! I really liked how you showed the minecraft evolution on every version. Yes, it is similar to the 1.7 trailer by Haatfilms, but they just made a trailer using pistons. You should maybe have chosen some other music though, just to make it more 'unique'. But anywhoozers, GREAT!
