Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are some of the best geopolitical friends we have. They’ve lived under Russian rule and know first-hand the implications of such.

20 years ago if Ruzzia had invaded the Baltics, ethnic Russians would have been enthusiastic. Now, they would enlist in their country's armies to fight off any Russian invasion. Prosperity, freedom and opportunity have taken root, while Ruzzia has been exposed as an oppressed impoverished shithole country. It's EU expansion, not NATO, that Putler fears most, and why he invaded Georgia and Ukraine. If these countries attain a western standard of living, it will shine a big spotlight on how badly he has failed the Russian people and how much he and his cronies have ripped them off.

The Baltic states, and especially Latvia and Estonia, are unique and separate cultures that have very little to do with Russia or Russian history, other than what was forced upon them by Soviet and Russian Empire "Russification" attempts. Lithuania is closer to Poland than it is to Russia in culture. I lived in Latvia in 2003-04, and except for Riga and a few of the communities that have large ethnic Russian populations on the Russian border, Latvian folks I knew there are nothing like the Russians I've met when I lived in Russia. The Latvian language isn't even related to Slavic languages like Russian is and is a bit more like German in that regard, but of an Indo-European origin.

It is a total shame what Stalin and subsequent Soviet leaders did to Latvia and the other Baltic countries, exploiting resources and treating the land there like a toxic dump. Latvia still has scars from the Soviet era to this day, like Soviet style urban blight, poor infrastructure and design left behind and severe effects of pollution that was endemic in many Soviet satellite states. Russians treated Latvia like a dump, and except for the resorts like Jurmala and the beaches of Vecaki of coastal Latvia, which Russians exploited right up until the Russo-Ukrainian War caused Latvia to block Russians from freely entering Latvia, Russians have been a pest that Latvia just can't seem to rid itself of, like cockroaches that become resistant to even the strongest pesticides. Russian neighborhoods of Riga like Purvciems and Vecmilgravis are actually more like ghettos and slums, at least they were when I lived in Riga. I've lived in many countries over the years, even in Russia and Ukraine for years at a time as an English teacher, and the saddest of all those examples was how Russians used up and abused the non-Russian country states of the Soviet Union and mistreated the native populations therein.

Russia should keep away from the Baltic countries and Ukraine. Hasn't the world seen enough of Russo-centric ethnic cleansing?

This video ignores some crucial things. Also some annoyances.
First and foremost: its been 33 bloody years! Enough with "formerly soviet" bs! Its already same as calling USA a former british colony! It may be correct, but why would you refer to USA a former british colony every time you mention them?

Second: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are NATO. Sure, you aknowledge it when talking about borders and article 5, but there is that "junior partner" vibe when explaining how we have integrated and are joining NATO. Its been 20 years. Meaning- ruzzia would not shorten its borders, if it invades us. They would not be able to put it to "just suwalki and sea". Additionally, even assuming they win (fat chance btw), they would not be able to hold us. We fought decades worth of guerilla war without any supplies against ussr, when it was much stronger. We now have know-how, supplies and preparation. Additionally, even conventionally, our forces do have enough skill and knowledge to keep ruzzia at bay, albeit with a great cost while allies break through the ruzzian lines.

Third: You overestimate ruzzia, underestimate Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, but also Finland, Sweden and Poland. You also overestimate belarusian people's willingness to fight for ruzzia- there is a big reason why Belarus has not joined ruzzia on invasion. ruzzia currently has barely enough logistical strength to keep fighting in Ukraine and to amass enough troops to even have chance at invasion of baltics- even under assumption that rest of NATO will not join in (Finland, Sweden and Poland would 100%, USA and UK as well- if not for anything else, sheer prestige would not allow them to sit it out), ruzzia would need lot more troops to invade us. And this buildup would take a while- enough for NATO allies to deploy even more troops here and even more in europe in general.

Fourth: putler is already probing us. For decades, even. First ever nation-wide cyber attack in world was in 2007 Estonia.. by ruzzia. This followed bronze night riots, which was also ruzzian attempt to undermine Estonia, to see if they can maybe pry then-fresh NATO member out. They failed.

My wife is from Estonia, and we are flying there soon again. Believe me, they would fight harder then even Ukraine if the Russians even tried to come close!
The resentment is real, and the Memories of the Udssr times are still fresh.

0:23 - We REgained the independence. We were occupied for 50 years. We got our independence in 1918.

I am an old man, Soviet dissident since 1983, member of close protection detail of Estonian government in 1991 when we regained our independence. And let me tell you: if Russia were to attack, we will fight back, tooth and nail. I will go and fight. Because we have seen and experienced firsthand what Russian rule is about. It has always been about russification and genocide. Russia never apologised for what it did. There will be scores to be settled. And witnessing what it is doing in Ukraine, the meter is ticking. Two words: Never again!

The Baltic countries have done fantastically well in supporting Ukraine. They are in the top in donations relative to their GDP, and in donations per capita they even come close to the Nordic countries. This has absolutely been noted by other NATO countries. The Baltic countries, with the memories of russian occupation and suppression, are strongly determined to stay as free, democratic, peaceful nations, and this makes it easy to decide to help them in case of an inconvenient situation.

I don't understand why you always use stock footage of ruzzian soldiers marching? Showing malnourished unwashed groups of men recording videos pleading to the Tsar is a more accurate image of their military.
