Two weeks after I passed the PMP and updated my resume, I had a job offer! So I say yes it does! I have lots of experience as a PM, but that PMP added the credential I needed to get the job I really wanted!

I loved using your udemy course to prepare. I passed my exam last month 🎉. It has given me more confidence but I need actual work experience and projects to give me more leverage

I got my PMP a year ago, thanks to Andrew. I did get a job after 8 months of doing it. It adds value to your resume, but having skills to crack interview is important

Just going through your course, its absolutely correct, need to actually understand content and then apply for jobs with skills you learned through the exam.

Fully agreed. ARs timely content make everyone to stay aligned in our path without any distractions. Both skill and certification is related. They go hand in hand. While the certificate is the entry ticket, it is the skill that is going to come a long way 👍

Great content I have my pmp for a year now. It’s a 50/50 shot. I’m super happy I got it tho it will be worth it as I progress in my career journey,

Hey Andrew. You're absolutely right. There's no point in having a certificate without knowing its real worth at work.

Obtaining the certification is the benchmark; knowing how to apply what you learned is the differentiator.

Agreed! Having the PMP certification is only part of the puzzle. Too many people are studying for the exam just to take it, pass it, and get the certification so they can add it to their resume, but won't use it to its full potential purpose. It takes the added skills and experience to actually get the job. Getting the certification just to get it, devalues it for those of us project management professionals who get the certification to continue our education and skill development as actual Project Managers. It's frustrating when I hear that people are obtaining the certification without the intention to actually use it.

I do agree with you skill + certification is a combo to get a good job👍

I expect, only during the interview phase, the cert to put me ahead of others that don’t have it, . The rest is on me to get the position.

I agree 💯 Andrew . The Certification is just a leverage . The skill is what delivers the result

I agree you need both certifications and skills. However, I have both and have applied to 100s of jobs with no success. Of note is that I'm trying to pivot into a different industry.

I recently applied for a job that requires a PMP or equivalent certification. I submitted certificates from five out of six courses I completed in the Google Project Management Specialization on Coursera. I believe that my experience, supplemented by these certificates, compensates for the absence of a PMP certification. However, to ensure this isn't a barrier to future opportunities, I've decided to pursue the PMP certification in April/May of 2024. Wish me luck, fingers crossed!
