True cost of US Covid healthcare shocks British public

In the UK coronavirus testing costs you £0. There are no medical bills if you get put on a ventilator. In the USA it's a very different story.

I left the US 26 years ago and healthcare is the reason I won't ever move back. People there criticize the NHS or the German healthcare system (like what I get), but medical costs are absolutely terrible there. The fact that I am now a cancer survivor is a pause for thought with me. Where would I be if I had stayed in the US? I don't even want to contemplate that.

The worst thing about US healthcare system is many people still have to pay large sums of money when they have insurance. A friend of mine has a neurological condition that causes her pain. She had to pay $1600 for an MRI scan WITH insurance. She was supposed to get a Nerve Blocker which would have been $6000 with insurance, but her insurance company refused to pay. The cost to her $50, 000, so she's not had it. The fact that insurance companies can decide what healthcare you can have is disgusting.

I'm from germany. And to be honest if "Breaking Bad" would have played in Germany the whole series would be 1 episode long. Because everything Walter White needs money for would have been payed either by yout heatlh insurance or the government. I'm glad the US keeps the dream alive so we are getting more and more of these nice series. THANKS AMERICA

Heheh, this is why I'm mystified that people aren't raising hell about the government packaging and selling off parts of your NHS. Cherish and try to protect it; my baby daughter's medical bills, nearly thirty years ago, eventually forced me into Bankruptcy Court, even though we had medical insurance, which eventually proved to be not really worth the paper it was printed on.
