In Zone 7 and 8, May is really when it all starts to happen. The Perennials are awake and well, direct sown seed are germinating, and transplanting our indoor seedlings is on the horizon. But, we're still in the risky window of a late-season cold snap. So today we're going through 3x May Gardening tips to help you get the most out of the upcoming season!

May is transplant month for me too, but not until the very end. I’m counting on the trellis videos before then, to make space for my squashes. I need all the space I can get.

2 weeks and counting trying to get the seedlings planted. Rain cool, cold, rain. I am definitely learning patience.
Right now I need 16° to finally get to put the penetrating oil finish on the boards for the raised beds. It's been a long month, got 1 day at 16° worked furiously to get at least one set of boards finished.
The worms are happy, get multiple feedings of dried dandelions, but I can keep up with the dandelion crop.
You're in Squamish so your season is shorter than mine in the lower mainland. Fortunately I started my pepper plants in late February, kept them in a cooler area, so mine aren't very large.
Hopefully they will eventually grow. 🤞

Jordan, what’s your fav local seedling source? In Squamish? Lower Mainland?

My rosemary also died. As did my Cala lily and parsley. And tulips. And garlic. And daffodils. And dianthus. That cold snap in January really took a lot of casualties.
