My best friend in high school (back in the dark ages) was an emancipated minor. He nearly failed to graduate because he was holding down a full time job to pay the bills during his senior year. I’m a couple of towns out from Tacloban and stayed at that Red Doorz for a few nights last year.
There are always many more working there - I don’t think the students are paid.
They’re really welcoming but, while I stayed in a couple of different rooms the aircon was so loud - even if I switched off l could still hear a few more units close by.
For this trip, I brought 7 packs of dark roast espresso coffee and an airpress coffee maker so no more trudging the streets to find.
Even Bo’s didn’t hit the spot for me.
Nearby, Dream Cafe I preferred.
A suggestion, if you thank people in their own language it’s nicer and not so difficult.
