There's a few ways to improve the thermals. The fan next to the GPU could be used as exhaust, and the L9i cooler could use some fresher air with their duct or a thicker fan. I think it supports 59mm, so if you can find a CPU cooler with 120mm, temps (not only CPU) would be dramatically improved :)

Noctua sells a foam spacer kit for the NH-L9i called NA-FD1. This bridges the gap between a top-down cooler and the case panel, preventing the cooler from ingesting hot air. Not that you'll see much performance difference but it might run a few degrees cooler.

I like these kinds of experiments. It shows the real advances in chip design, since you can do *more* with less, and it seems to be a general win for efficiency if you know what knobs to turn.

Well, throwing there 7950x on ECO mode should beat both those hard both in gaming and productivity I suppose.

When the 4090 is on an mini ITX Caseit says "now i am the case"
You are doing great

Get the case SFF Time N-ATX and put an AIO in it and retest it. Its a little bigger volume wise and basically the same footprint. Also, undervolt the CPU like some of the other commenters have said. I think you can get exactly what you want without having a chungus tower footprint. The SFF time | MNLT case build would be cool to see for an ITX build too.

To be a true console killer you gotta get near it on price.

But... but... could it cost just $600...???🤔

Thanks for this video. I have a brand new NZXT H1 v2 sitting under the christmas tree, I'm now convinced that getting a 13900k or 7950x won't be a waste, especially since those chips are specifically designed to run hot under load regardless of whatever cooler you have. At least the NZXT H1 is water cooled so it shouldn't be too bad.

Nice build, although I wouldn't want to run a 13900k at 100c daily lol.

I got a hernia from that gpu installation

I'm interested in the 12900KS in the SFF case, comparing the 13 vs 12 in the same case since they both would he thermal throttling. Would the 13 handle thermal throttling better?

I always watch your videos at my security job. (while drinking my morning coffee lol). I thought there was no upload this morning and got sad. Lol

It's impressive that it still beats the 12900k even with the thermal throttle.

The GPU sag is kiling me Brett, stick a qtip under that thing or something lol

Brett, that case doesn’t look to sturdy bro, is that safe?

also cutting the safety guards off fans will boost airflow alot, like 2x

P-ATX better than fractal ridge, only problem is the accessibility. Velka cases are also very unique but the accessibility needs improvement.

I like that case. Fractal Designs new Ridge case is nice too, it has venting on both sides up top where the GPU goes fully taking advantage of Nvidia cards with a fan on each side.
