My mom would be like “no, we’re definitely not calling that agency. We don’t know them, and they don’t know us” 😂

Y'all this is DANGEROUS!!!! Sketchy people pull girls and women like this ALL THE TIME! I'm glad these people were legit, but spreading this around with no warning is doing women and girls a HORRIBLE favor.
When I was a child, I got approached in stores to "model, " too. By people who would suddenly vanish when my mom showed up. Trafficking is a very real threat.

Always proceed with caution when you visit these places. Go with a parent or with a trusted guardian, and be suspicious. Lots of human trafficking business get people in places like these. Nonetheless, this sounds super confidence boosting and you should be so proud ✨

Just be aware that this is not a general practice. Don't ever go anywhere with anyone. If they give u a card or tell u they are from a certain agency, look them up online (don't call the number on the card or go to the address on the card)and don't give them your info. Get their info online, call and talk to someone and do research on the agency. Also, photographers will not come up to u this way either. Your agency will help u get head shots. You do not need to go to modeling school or pay for anything besides head shots. Often your head shots etc will be free if they have a photographer that is wanting to build their book.

One time there was a woman “scouting” for young models at the mall. And she asked me to write my name, number, and email on a clipboard. I never heard from said scout again but ever since my email and phone were being spammed with scam calls and ads. Eventually they got my address and sent realistic letters to my home that convinced my young self to call for something that resulted in giving my mom’s card information. Luckily they didn’t get to steal from us bc we realized our mistake fast enough. But they tormented me for nearly a year just because I trusted someone who said I was pretty enough to be a model. Be careful out there y’all…

From how this story plays out, it was either going to be the start of a modeling career or the story of how this girl got human trafficked. Stay safe out there ladies, this is how a lot of women get hooked in bad situations. Double check everything and having someone go with you to if they offer to have you come to any meetings/photoshoots/etc.

You’re so lucky bc you got supported by your parent. Many models i have been working with have had done things by themselves. Their parents did not support for their modeling career.

I remember there was a girl I went to middle school with that had got scouted to do modeling. But apparently when the mom called the phone number they told her that her middle school daughter would be modeling swim suits. Her mom rightfully said heck no, but I remember the girl being extremely upset at her mom for “ruining her modeling career”.

My freshman year in college there was this stunning multiracial girl in our University. She was half Japanese and half African American. And she was a solid 5’10 without boots.

She had amazing hair too. And that’s why she lasted one year in Ohio in college, got scouted, and we saw her in national shampoo commercials the next year. I hope she is doing good these days.

I think the only way this isn’t super creepy is that her mom was there and the agent was cool with her mom being there. Plus they gave her a number and a name instead of asking her to “come meet me here” or “come to my car and meet someone”. There’s so many of these “modeling agencies” that are fronts for human trafficking and it’s so scary

Bro if that happened to me I'd feel like it was a scam and throw away the paper 😭

Be careful however and proceed with caution. Sometimes these people don’t really work for modeling agencies and are trying to traffic children. Always be careful of these people

Lol I remember one time when I was a kid some lady tried to scout me to be an tv actor or something. She was telling my mom all about it and then turned to me and asked me “haven’t you ever wanted to be on tv?” And I said “no.” And she didn’t know what to say after that lmao

If you are alone and someone like this approaches you do not stay w them and find another adult immediately, like an employee or security, and tell them about that individual immediately. Try to give a description of them. Traffickers will use this tactic all the time. Even if they are legit it's better to be safe than sorry. You wont be their only target that day

To liz though: It's awesome that this time it worked out. The fact that your mom was there w you and was supportive is even better!

As a mom of a girl I wouldn’t have called. I would’ve been polite to listen and that’s it. I’m glad your story turned out to be good tho! I remember my mom driving me to every single interview I had when I was looking for a job after college and she would literally stay there until I finished, I remember being embarrassed about it and felt like she didn’t trust me until now. Always go with someone you trust and be careful! ❤
