My secret? Sit at the VERY BACK of the plane. I usually am able to get extra snacks or drinks...sometimes even free food. But you need to be EXTREMELY NICE to the flight staff for this to work.

I've even had some pleasant conversations with the attendants this way.

on my trips to the philippines i take japan airline and always give 2 big boxes of ferrero rocher. never got a "upgrade" but got moved to a row by myself.

We did this on our flight and my 2 sisters and I got 8$ snack boxes for free and the flight attendants were constantly checking in on us like if they walked by they walk by and be like how are you doing etc it’s a good hack ❤
