Christ this feels like a time capsule. Looking at this and remembering how much hype surrounded it and comparing it to my custom built FPV freestyle quad or literally any of the DJI stuff is just insane. Brushed motors, gear reduced props, the huge foam prop guards, before "drones" were absolutely everywhere with all the regulation surrounding them, with this specific quad being the "top of the line". Simpler times. Even though this video has 1.4mil views, only 4 comments were made before mine in the past 8 years. To anyone who sees this in the future, let this video encapsulate what early 2010s drones were like, before the drone industry killed all other forms of RC.

@BloodyCriminal - Flight times on a full battery charge are @ 10 ~ 12 minutes. Takes only about a minute or 2 to change out an exhausted battery with a fresh one, the control app gives you an on-screen warning to land when the battery gets dangerously low. In the US, takes @ 3 hours to recharge on 120 volts AC (charge is a multi-voltage AC model, on 240 V. in Europe takes 1.5 hours to recharge).

@ku42 The AR Drone is wifi connected. It sets up an ad hoc network that you join with your smartphone or pad and use the Drone app to control it.

Yes, you can. The Freeflight problem is availaboe in the google play store. However, the application won't be updated till the 11th of this month. It's still the freeflight app for the previous version.

ive got the drone 2.0 and when the battery level is on 15%, there is a warning and if you fly until there is no battery, it just lands, but its recommended to land manually, because if theres something below, the drone will hit it.

With the standard battery around 20 minutes... but there are other batteries you can buy for flying longer.

It's also there for Android. If you don't have any of these, you can't fly the AR Drone yet. As far as i heard they are working on a link with a sort of wireless xbox360 controller to fly it, but that's a thing they are working on since the release so i don't think it will be released.

@seeingUFOsPA yeah those hexacopters will set you back a fair bit, gaui 330x is probably the cheapest kit, but it all adds up by the time you buy cameras, transmitters/recievers, you could always build one of these /watch?v=j3TH7Y1CjJU lol.
